Founder's Log #3: Oh, we have funding?

Although we are bootstrapping, when a VC knocks on our door, the polite thing to do is to hear them out.

In mid December a VC reached out to me on LinkedIn, but since we weren’t actively looking for funding, I politely explained and offered to have an intro call if they think it’s worthwhile. We arranged a call for January.

Our first intro call turned into a second call and then to an IC meeting, and today we have a formal investment commitment.

In a couple of weeks we went from “we are not looking for funding” to, “oh, we have funding?”

Don’t get me wrong, we are pleasantly surprised and would welcome the investment. But it’s still only a commitment, we need to agree terms…
